Flask DIY

Hey Guys!

Today one of my DIY projects was featured over on That Little Brunette. That Little Brunette is a fashion and lifestyle blog ran by one of my fellow Your Sorority Sister campus representatives, Rhiannon! So take a few moments and check out my project, and then stay awhile and look around Rhiannon's blog!

Snow Day DIY

If you haven't heard by now, the south recently experienced a Snowpocalypse! While I had two days off of class, I made sure to use my time wisely. Therefore, I put off all my homework and crafted. I also slept, ate, and frolicked in the snow (pics coming soon)!

One of my favorite crafts I did on my snow day was this awesome collage for one of our new baby squirrels!

It was quite simple to make. All it required was a canvas, modge podge, and some AGD related things.

You simply glue your images on the canvas and paint over it with modge podge to seal it. I added the flowers and ribbon last to give it a 3-D look.

Also, I will be having another craft I completed be on That Little Brunette in the next few days, so keep your eye out for that!

Until then,

Beth

Sunday Sum-Um 1.28.14

Hey guys, I hope you have all had a great week! My week was busy (see pic below) but enjoyable. I am loving being at college and even more so, I am loving being a campus rep for Your Sorority Sister! (Seriously, check us all out!)

I had a multitude of quizzes, tests, and papers this past week. I threw in a few hours of work, some intramural, and friend time and came out with a pretty good week.

Today is a snow day, so there is no class, and tomorrow may be the same!
Because of this,
I have been crafting all day (literally) and can not wait to share some of the crafts I made.

Expect posts later today,

:)

It's been a while since I've seen a sunset like this.

A Part of Me Wants to be an Inspiration

Recently, I watched Part of Me featuring Katy Perry on Netflix and (even though I am about 3 years late) I am inspired by this lady! I have been meaning to watch this documentary for about 2 years and now that I have, I am wondering why I did not watch it sooner.

Let me just say, being a freshman in college is crazy. Having freedom over the choices I make is stressful and rewarding all in one. In the past few months I have had to make many choices, some easy and some difficult, and in the next few years I will continue to make choices that affect my life.

Watching this documentary tonight was exactly what I needed! From this documentary I have learned to never give up on doing what I want to do. I have been reminded to not be ashamed of who I am and to not be afraid to go after what I want.

Not let's be real, I have no interest in becoming "famous." I have no interested in singing or dancing for a living. However, I do want to change the lives of "my" kids. From watching this documentary, I have new motivation to push myself to get high grades and tough internships in order to get into my choice of grad schools. I have a refreshed motivation to be the best I can be and to strive to be the Occupational Therapist I can be.

So I encourage you all to watch this if you haven't and also check me out on Your Sorority Sister if you have the time!

See Ya!

Sunday Sum-Up 1.21.14

Coffee, Yoga, and Doughnuts

What more do you need out of life than that?

I feel as if I am finally winding down my last week and charging full speed into this next one. With the long weekend we just finished, I lost all sense of time and still barely know what day it is! Last week was quite a special week for my sorority and for me personally. If you do not know, I was elected to the COR (continuous open recruitment) position for the 2014 calendar year. Being a newly initiated sister, I had no clue what responsibilities would be put on me for this week. I only knew that I had to get stuff done, and I did. By no means did I represent my position alone though. All my sisters offered their help to me in some way and for that I am so grateful. I have this personal problem with letting people help me (it's a real struggle) so it was difficult to accept the fact that I could not do everything on my on and that I would need some assistance. Through this past week I have learned many valuable life skills and I am so glad I decided to take the COR position.

Aside from sorority events last week, I had my normal duties (aka: school and work) which were pretty simple. (It was only the second week of school, so it hasn't gotten too hard yet.)

Over the long weekend, my roommate and several hallmates and many of my friends went home to see their parents. At first I was kind of bummed, but I decided to make the best of it!

I went on a date with my boyfriend; we saw Lone Survivor. By the way, I recommend this movie to everyone, but do wear a long sleeve shirt or bring tissues because you will cry.

I also got to spend some time to myself. [this is where the coffee, yoga, and doughnuts comes in] I took an evening just to myself and treated myself to some of my favorite things! It was nice to have a lazy evening alone, because in college "alone time" rarely exists.

Last but not least, my mommy came and visited me yesterday! My mom, boyfriend, and I went out to lunch together and then spent the afternoon antique shopping. It was quite the wonderful day!

It was a long week to say the least, but I would not have changed any bit of it if I could.

Now to go write my five page paper due Saturday!

Your Sorority Sister Campus Rep

Today while at work, I opened my email and saw I had mail from Your Sorority Sister! I was so excited when I realized that I had been chosen as a campus rep for Mercer University to share my experiences with my sorority on this blog for girls world-wide to read.

I am quite excited to have been offered this opportunity, and I look forward to sharing my insights and experiences with sorority life with all of ya'll soon!

Sunday Sum-Up 1.13.14

Happy Sunday everyone!

This week was my first week back in classes for my second semester of college and only one word has come to mind so far...Stress.

I have been obsessively stressing about everything thus far this year (which is awful I know!)

I have decided today, instead of dwelling on my boring, stressful week that this weeks Sunday Sum-Up will be some of the ways I cope with the stresses of college, student organizations, Greek life, work, and everything else that is thrown my way.

1. Breathe Deeply - I know this seems like the most obvious way to de-stress, but I often forget this is an option. I find this the most effective way to calm down when I get overwhelmed sitting in class.

2. Classical Music - When I need to tune out the things around me, I find this to be the most beneficial thing to listen to. (I am actually listening to it right now!) It has a calming affect on my mind and it helps me to focus on what I need to get done.

3. List Making - As many people know I am obsessed with organization of my activities. I basically live out of my planner. I also have a daily to-do list notebook, a chalkboard that my amazing big made me, a "Weekly Goals" poster that I made, and dry-erase magnets that help organize all my activities. Making lists helps me focus on what I need to get done and organize my hours so I am not stressed about what all I have to do.

My goals for this week: 1. Keep a record of all my grades 2. Work on chemistry problems every night 3. Make 100s on my biology quizzes this week (I have 3) 4. Read and Analyze Antigone and make a 100 on my Antigone test!

4. Netflix - HAH! I love Netflix, probably a little too much. When I am overly stressed and just need a break from people, problems, and all the like I go to my room and watch an episode (or two) of Netflix.

5. Moving - Contrary to number 4, sometimes when I am stressed I don't feel like being a recluse. When this happens I will do something that involves me going somewhere and being around people. I may go to the gym and do a short workout, go grab dinner with friends, or go shopping. I just do something that takes my mind off my current stresses.

Sunday Sum-Up 1.7.14

It's my first Sunday Sum-Up of 2014! I have not done much since my last Sunday Sum-Up except for move back into college and attend my first two days of classes. My classes this semester are looking pretty good. They will be tough and I'll be spending great amounts of time in the library but that is alright!

The rest of this month is quite hectic for myself, so my posts may be quite sporadic... but that's ok too!

Throwback picture of my campus in honor of moving back in!

When I came back my roomie surprised me with this cupcake!

and this note!!

I also received a late Christmas present from my future suite mate!
Merry Marshmallow!

Short as this was, it's all I have for tonight.

See ya'll later,

Beth
