Sunday Sum-Up 4.27.14

Hello,

It has been such a long time since I have shared a Sunday Sum-Up. I blame this mostly on the busy lifestyle of an undergrad but I also know this has to do with me being lazy.

So much has happened in the past few weeks, I don't even know where to begin!

First things first, I have officially made the decision to transfer colleges in the fall. I will be leaving the beautiful Mercer University campus for (hopefully) the University of North Georgia. I am looking forward to the change and realize how blessed I am from the support I have received from this decision.

Second I have been putting forward more effort into my blog and it has actually made me happier. I start thinking about what I want to blog about in a given week and have made a schedule to go by. I give a great deal of thanks to the Her Campus Blogger Network which is filled with a bunch of wonderful ladies who have become my friends. I officially love blogging.

Literally my life is dominated by HCBN!
Recently I went home for Easter, which was a great break from college. I had way too many ice cream floats with my mom and dyed Easter eggs with Dylan. I then returned back to school to prepare for exams!

As it stands now, I have 3 exams, 2 papers, and 1 presentation separating me from Summer. I could not be happier!

Thanks you guys for reading my rambling thoughts, it means the world to me!

Beth

Things I am Afraid to Tell You

Hello all,

It is officially Sunday on the east coast and I am finally posting a SSU on a Sunday! I'm quite proud of myself, actually. I missed last weeks post and well as all the planned posts because I was overwhelmingly busy. Though I am still busy 24/7, I am making myself take a moment to blog because I honestly miss writing my thoughts for all to read and pretend to care about!

So instead of "summing up" my past two weeks, because it would literally be... School, I am instead going to share something I have been interested in posting for a while.

As I spend my evenings reading other blogs, I have recently came across many bloggers posting a list of things they are afraid to admit. I find this super interesting for two main reasons: 1. I love lists and 2. I think it is cool for people to have courage to profess their fears and when they realize they are not alone in them it is a refreshing feeling.

So....

Things I am Afraid to Tell You

  • I have crazy anxiety and get freaked out my 99% of things. This includes speaking in front of people, and really just speaking in general... I'd rather observe than engage.
  • I struggle at normal people conversation. This probably in some way links back to the anxiety in which I have to tell myself to actually make sounds come out of my mouth.
  • I am a communications minor... HA, funny? I thought so too. What is someone who has social anxiety and struggle making conversation thinking by minoring in communications? Well, not only that, but I also major in psychology and have a second minor in global health studies. I plan on being a Behavior Analyst, which also involves talking... so I better work on that social anxiety problem.
  • I love special needs children with every piece of my heart. I would rather have a job working with special needs children that pays nothing that having a super easy job that pays a ton.
  • I put things off far too much, for example, waking up... I constantly push the snooze button and keep putting off my morning so much to the point where I have had to create a rewards system for myself for not hitting snooze.
  • I sometimes will eat multiple doughnuts or equally unhealthy foods and watch up to 6 hours of Netflix in one day just because I don't want to get up... it really is a struggle.
  • I love love love leading. I love organizing and making plans for events and carrying them out. I love being in charge... I just don't like speaking.
  • I sometimes get easily annoyed at people but I do not express anger or annoyance because I am against hate and bad moods.
  • I have this issue with asking for help... I just do not do it. I refuse to ask for help even when I know I really need it.
  • I am a struggling Christian and am proud of my faith. I feel that the struggling part might throw some people off but I must put it because I do struggle constantly with living a Christian life in a college town. It is hard.

And that is enough digging into my fears for the night. I challenge you all to acknowledge your fears and realize that you are not alone in them.

Beth

Sunday Sum-Up 3.17.14

With intentions of getting this posted on time, I am once again late.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Spring Break and I have so much I want to share. My problem is that the words will not come. They are there, in my head, but are not translating to sentences.

I am internally dealing with many hard decisions currently, and my blog is taking a seat on the back burner which is upsetting to me.

So for now, I will just share some pictures of the amazingness of Savannah, GA... and when the words come, be prepared because they will be strong.

And something I am looking forward to sharing with you soon is a teen retreat I helped at this past weekend. Below is a banner from our Sole Hope party, which turned out exceptionally well.

Sunday Sum-Up 3.11.14

Hello all,

I am writing this post from the comfort of my bed at home, which means I have finally made it home for my Spring Break! I barely survived this past week of school (kidding... of course) and I am so glad to have a short break.

This past week I did a few fun things in the few spare moments I had...

(I spent a day at the lake, followed by a trip to Bass Pro, and a date to see The Lego Movie!)

I decided that in order to make my Spring Break (almost) productive that I will come up with my SB 2k14 goals. Maybe you have some of the same goals!

1. Respond to the many emails I have been letting collect in my inbox.

2. Purchase, package, and ship the 3 gifts I need to send out or give out.

3. Study for my college classes (the is the most fun goal!)

4. Print out and make use of a blog calendar so I can plan my month ahead of time and not feel rushed to get a post out.

5. Follow through with Goal #4!

6. Edit my LinkedIn profile.

7. Spend several hours on Pinterest and not feel guilty.

8. Write hand written notes to be delivered or mailed.

9. Complete a goal from my 101 in 1001 post!

10. Go to the Beach! (this is a give me, because my mother and I are going on Thursday!)

To end my post I want to share a fellow blogger's post that really meant a lot to me when I read it. It was posted today when I was thinking about how I feel that everything I do is mediocre and not to my best ability. I really suggest you take a moment to read these words.

Sunday Sum-Up 3.3.14

Hi Guys!

I promise you guys I will be getting around to posting my Sunday Sum-Ups on Sunday! (I will make that my goal for next week!)

It has been a super long week because our professors think its funny to schedule every single test and paper to be due the week before Spring Break...Hahaha...no. On the bright side though, Spring Break is next week for me so get excited!

And now for a few pictures to sum up my last week...

I got to go home for the weekend. Then I researched Hamlet for my paper. Also my roomie and I planted Sunflowers!

Dylan and I went the the Ocmulgee National Monument and the old book sale, and he took me out for Chinese!

Also, if you haven't entered my giveaway yet... Go Here!

Sunday Sum-Up 2.22.14

Hey guys!

Can you believe February is almost over?

I must admit I have been slacking with my blogging this past week because school has really and truly been rough.

Therefore I am combining two weeks into this Sunday Sum-Up.

The major thing that happened in the past two weeks was Valentine's Day! I went on a picnic and hike with my boyfriend at a local state park! It was wonderful and many pictures were taken!

We decided to go geocaching once we were there (I have to find 25 new geocaches for my 101 in 1001 list!) so I grabbed a few trinkets out of my truck and we set off. We found two over the course of the day and I got an adorable new panda bear contact case! I just can not get over the beauty that lies only a short distance from my campus!

Another major thing that happened these past two weeks is Stompfest! My sorority partnered with Delta Sigma Theta to perform the intermission act of Mercer's Stompfest. We worked for weeks perfecting our routine and it finally came together wonderfully for our performance. I am so proud of my sisters, the Deltas, and our coach for rocking this event!

The rest of the week involved studying, lots of studying. Hopefully it will all pay off on my tests this week and next.

I have some fun posts planned for this week on the blog so keep your eye out! They WILL be posted this week.

Loyally,

Beth

Sunday Sum-Up 2.9.2014

I just wanted to give myself a pat on the back for actually getting this post started on Sunday! If you follow my blog, you will notice I usually post my Sunday Sum-Ups on Monday or even Tuesday afternoon, but not this week.

However, I haven't done much that has been interesting this past week. I did get back some tests which did not improve my week one bit (must study more!). I also worked about 15 hours, which kept me quite busy. I managed to sleep a few hours each night... and multiple hours during the day. I also attended my first "Burn at the Barre" class.

If you have never been to a barre workout, I suggest you get up and go to one right this moment. It was one of the most intense workouts I have been to in a while. It challenged me not only physically but mentally. It is difficult to explain how it mentally challenged me, so I really will just leave that up to you to decide once you try it out. Needless to say, I will be going back this week to the class, and hopefully from now on!

With "all" that being said, I am done saying stuff.

I will be back tomorrow, lovelies!

Loyally,

Beth

Sunday Sum-Up 2.3.2014

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone has had a pretty great week. If you live in the south, I hope you got to experience Snowpocalypse 2014. (which for me was followed by 70 degree weather just two days later)

I personally was super excited for the snow because it was the first snow I have seen since 2010! At Mercer we got two days out of classes which I spent crafting, sleeping, and playing in the snow. It was like a weekend in the middle of the week.

It was an easy week to say the least, however, because of class cancellation, my tests got moved and I wound up taking my first biology and chemistry tests of the year today. It would not have been so bad except for the pouring rain I had to walk through to get to my 8am on the other side of campus. Anyway, I did well on my tests so I am happy!

*Look at these adorable pics of the Snowpocalypse!

So, since I've had such a great week I want to share with you a little bit of my inspiration!

My roommate recently challenged me to install a daily Bible verse app on my phone. The challenge is to open the app and read your verse as soon as you turn your alarm off and to live by that verse that day. Some days it is a struggle for me to read the verse first thing (because I forget), but so far I have not missed a full day of reading my verse. My verses this week have been:

1/27 - 1 Corinthians 13:4, 7-8
1/28 - Deuteronomy 6:4-7
1/29 - Hebrews 11:5, Genesis 5:24
1/30 - Psalm 89:1-2,5
1/31 - 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
2/1 - Proverbs 10:22 (I especially loved this one.)
2/2 - 2 Timothy 4:1-2

And today's verse is Isaiah 57:19 "I create the fruit of the lips: 'Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near,' says the Lord; 'and I will heal them.'"

Sunday Sum-Um 1.28.14

Hey guys, I hope you have all had a great week! My week was busy (see pic below) but enjoyable. I am loving being at college and even more so, I am loving being a campus rep for Your Sorority Sister! (Seriously, check us all out!)

I had a multitude of quizzes, tests, and papers this past week. I threw in a few hours of work, some intramural, and friend time and came out with a pretty good week.

Today is a snow day, so there is no class, and tomorrow may be the same!
Because of this,
I have been crafting all day (literally) and can not wait to share some of the crafts I made.

Expect posts later today,

:)

A full planner is a happy planner.

It's been a while since I've seen a sunset like this.

Sunday Sum-Up 1.21.14

Coffee, Yoga, and Doughnuts

What more do you need out of life than that?

I feel as if I am finally winding down my last week and charging full speed into this next one. With the long weekend we just finished, I lost all sense of time and still barely know what day it is! Last week was quite a special week for my sorority and for me personally. If you do not know, I was elected to the COR (continuous open recruitment) position for the 2014 calendar year. Being a newly initiated sister, I had no clue what responsibilities would be put on me for this week. I only knew that I had to get stuff done, and I did. By no means did I represent my position alone though. All my sisters offered their help to me in some way and for that I am so grateful. I have this personal problem with letting people help me (it's a real struggle) so it was difficult to accept the fact that I could not do everything on my on and that I would need some assistance. Through this past week I have learned many valuable life skills and I am so glad I decided to take the COR position.

Aside from sorority events last week, I had my normal duties (aka: school and work) which were pretty simple. (It was only the second week of school, so it hasn't gotten too hard yet.)

Over the long weekend, my roommate and several hallmates and many of my friends went home to see their parents. At first I was kind of bummed, but I decided to make the best of it!

I went on a date with my boyfriend; we saw Lone Survivor. By the way, I recommend this movie to everyone, but do wear a long sleeve shirt or bring tissues because you will cry.

I also got to spend some time to myself. [this is where the coffee, yoga, and doughnuts comes in] I took an evening just to myself and treated myself to some of my favorite things! It was nice to have a lazy evening alone, because in college "alone time" rarely exists.

Last but not least, my mommy came and visited me yesterday! My mom, boyfriend, and I went out to lunch together and then spent the afternoon antique shopping. It was quite the wonderful day!

It was a long week to say the least, but I would not have changed any bit of it if I could.

Now to go write my five page paper due Saturday!

Sunday Sum-Up 1.13.14

Happy Sunday everyone!

This week was my first week back in classes for my second semester of college and only one word has come to mind so far...Stress.

I have been obsessively stressing about everything thus far this year (which is awful I know!)

I have decided today, instead of dwelling on my boring, stressful week that this weeks Sunday Sum-Up will be some of the ways I cope with the stresses of college, student organizations, Greek life, work, and everything else that is thrown my way.

1. Breathe Deeply - I know this seems like the most obvious way to de-stress, but I often forget this is an option. I find this the most effective way to calm down when I get overwhelmed sitting in class.

2. Classical Music - When I need to tune out the things around me, I find this to be the most beneficial thing to listen to. (I am actually listening to it right now!) It has a calming affect on my mind and it helps me to focus on what I need to get done.

3. List Making - As many people know I am obsessed with organization of my activities. I basically live out of my planner. I also have a daily to-do list notebook, a chalkboard that my amazing big made me, a "Weekly Goals" poster that I made, and dry-erase magnets that help organize all my activities. Making lists helps me focus on what I need to get done and organize my hours so I am not stressed about what all I have to do.

My goals for this week: 1. Keep a record of all my grades 2. Work on chemistry problems every night 3. Make 100s on my biology quizzes this week (I have 3) 4. Read and Analyze Antigone and make a 100 on my Antigone test!

4. Netflix - HAH! I love Netflix, probably a little too much. When I am overly stressed and just need a break from people, problems, and all the like I go to my room and watch an episode (or two) of Netflix.

5. Moving - Contrary to number 4, sometimes when I am stressed I don't feel like being a recluse. When this happens I will do something that involves me going somewhere and being around people. I may go to the gym and do a short workout, go grab dinner with friends, or go shopping. I just do something that takes my mind off my current stresses.

Sunday Sum-Up 1.7.14

It's my first Sunday Sum-Up of 2014! I have not done much since my last Sunday Sum-Up except for move back into college and attend my first two days of classes. My classes this semester are looking pretty good. They will be tough and I'll be spending great amounts of time in the library but that is alright!

The rest of this month is quite hectic for myself, so my posts may be quite sporadic... but that's ok too!

Throwback picture of my campus in honor of moving back in!

When I came back my roomie surprised me with this cupcake!

and this note!!

I also received a late Christmas present from my future suite mate!
Merry Marshmallow!

Short as this was, it's all I have for tonight.

See ya'll later,

Beth
